These terms cover your use of the Down The Road website. Down The Road is run by the operator of Down The Road. By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

What Down The Road is

Down The Road helps you find nearby shops that sell what you are looking for, and shows where products come from. It is free. We do not sell anything, take payments, or deliver: you buy directly from the shop.

Listings are what shops tell us

Each listing says what a shop sells. It is not a promise that an item is in stock right now, and prices can change. Call or message the shop before you travel if it matters. We check shops that ask to be verified, but we cannot guarantee every listing, and we are not part of any sale between you and a shop.

Where a product comes from is our best information, taken from the shop, from open product databases, or worked out from the barcode. It is not a certification. Barcode prefixes show where a code was registered, which is not always where the product was made.

Your account

You need an account only to list a shop or write a review. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You can delete your account at any time on the account deletion page.

For shops

• List only a real shop that you run or are allowed to represent, at its real address.
• List only things you actually sell. Prices, when you give them, should be the price in the shop.
• Do not list anything that is illegal to sell where your shop is, or anything that needs a licence you do not have.
• Photos you upload must be yours or used with permission. By uploading them you let us show them on the website and in link previews of your page.
• Your shop's name, address, hours, products, prices, photos, and any phone or WhatsApp number you add are shown publicly, and your page may be listed by search engines.

Reviews and reports

Reviews must be honest and about your own experience. Do not post anything abusive, hateful, threatening, sexual, misleading, or about people's private lives, and do not review your own shop or a competitor's. Anyone can report a listing or a review. We may remove content that breaks these terms, and suspend or close accounts that break them, without notice when it is serious.

Things you must not do

Do not try to break, overload, or get around the security of the service. Do not copy our listings in bulk or use automated tools to collect them. Do not use the service to harass anyone or to send spam.

Open data

Maps use OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors). Product information comes partly from Open Food Facts and similar open databases, available under the Open Database Licence.

Our responsibility

We work to keep Down The Road accurate and available, but we provide it as it is, and it may sometimes be unavailable or wrong. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Otherwise, as a free service, we are not responsible for losses caused by relying on a listing, such as a wasted trip or a price that changed.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. You can stop using the service at any time. We may stop offering it, and will give notice on the site where we can.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, where the service is run from. Wherever you live, this does not take away the protections your local law gives you as a consumer.
